League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Sean Connery takes on the acting role of his career in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as he plays the part of a superhero. Even though some have compared this movie to a Victorian version of the X-Men, Connery is quite at home on the set. He first had reservations about doing the movie when he read the script because he though it was too different from what the movies he usually did. However, the more he reread it, the more he liked it.
Staying Young
When Connery was asked what he thought about the main character aging in the movie and if he thought about himself in the same way, he says he doesn't think about getting old. He plays golf to keep himself young, and although he can't play tennis anymore because of the effect it has on his body, he has learned to accept the fact he is getting older.
Special Effects
Although Sean Connery didn't seem to think much of the special effects used in the James Bond movies, he said that the special effects in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen are part of the script. There were a few problems with the story line and Connery did clash with the director, but he says that was just to restructure the film so that the characters could be introduced properly. Reading about characters and trying to bring them to life in the movies are too different things and need to be handled differently on the screen.
