New JAMES BOND DANIEL CRAIG owes his acting prowess to his 007 predecessor SIR SEAN CONNERY , after the older actor donated money to an organisation that gave Craig his first starring role.
In 1986, generous Connery gave $90,000 (GBP50,000) to save Britain's financially struggling National Youth Theatre (NYT).
The same year, Craig, who had just joined the NYT, took a major role in musical NIGHT SHRIEK, based on WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE's classic play MACBETH.
Former Bond TIMOTHY DALTON is also a former NYT student, while Connery and fellow former 007 star SIR ROGER MOORE are vice-presidents of the theatre. |
